UberTwitter gets banned from Twitter for policy violations

UberTwitter and Twidroyd have been banned from Twitter for policy violations. Twitter has put up an article in their support forums stating so, and have addressed it this time as many users are probably affected by this. As you know it, UberTwitter is one of the most popular Twitter application for BlackBerry, and it has now been suspended. TechAce detailed that UberTwitter was banned for have direct messages more than 140 characters, trademark infringement, and changing users’ tweets to help monetize.  So for all of you who have been on UberTwitter, here’s some alternatives:

•Twitter for BlackBerry (free)
• Blaq ($4.99)
• Blaq Lite (free)
•SocialScope (apply for invite)
•Seesmic for BlackBerry (free)

As for the official statement from Twitter on the ban, hit the jump. Regardless of how you access Twitter, we are dedicated to making Twitter better, faster and more reliable for you.
As part of this effort, we ask applications that work with Twitter to abide by a simple set of rules that we believe are in the interests of our users, and the health and vitality of the Twitter platform as a whole. We often take actions to enforce these rules. We have suspended UberTwitter and twidroyd for violating our policies. Everyday, we suspend hundreds of applications that are in violation of our policies. Generally, these apps are used by a small number of users. We are taking the unusual step of sharing this with you because today’s suspension may affect a larger number of users. We are committed to helping you continue to use Twitter during the disruption of these applications. You can download Twitter for Blackberry, Twitter for Android and other official Twitter apps here . You can also try our mobile web site or apps from other third-party developers.

Follow Apple App Store On Twitter Now !!

After brings Apple iTunesMusic on Twitter, now Apple has launched Apple App Store on Twitter with the twitter name @AppStore, new Twitter account for its popular iOS and Mac App Store. The new @AppStore Twitter account only made its debut a few hours ago, but it has already amassed more than 35,000 Twitter followers as of this writing. For comparison, its sister account, @iTunesMusic, has more than 680,000 followers.
As the accounts first tweet explains, @AppStore will feature new apps in Apple’s iOS and Mac App Stores and provide exclusive offers for Twitter users. For example, the account’s second tweet provided a quick pitch and a link to Nike’s Training Club App.

Creating a Twitter account for the App Store seems like a simple and effective way to generate more buzz and more downloads about featured apps. It’s essentially the same thing Apple has been doing with its App Store Facebook Page, which has nearly 1 million fans. Apple also has five popular iTunes Twitter accounts tweeting about new films, music and TV shows.

Still, Apple is known for its lack of engagement in social media. The company doesn’t have official Facebook or Twitter accounts. While the @AppStore account is a refreshing addition to Apple’s social media roster, don’t expect Steve Jobs, Tim Cook or Apple, Inc. to be tweeting anytime soon.

Follow @AppStore on Twitter Now.

Facebook Vs. Twitter - Users Statistics 2010

The Year 2010 was the revolutionary year for Social Networking, and two most successful social networking website of 2010 Facebook and Twitter are likely to get most users all over the world. Digital Surgeons took a short survey and describe the statistic demographics report about Facebook vs. Twitter (A Breakdown of 2010).

It’s no surprise that a higher percentage of Twitter users ‘update their status’ every day than Facebook, being that updating your status is the only way to actually use Twitter. For all you businesses out there, pay attention to the fact that 40% of all people on Facebook follow a brand, and 51% of those people will actually purchase a product or service from a specific brand. My speculation is that these numbers will go up at least 50% by end of next year as companies get smarter and continue to re-prioritize how and why they do business.
